TELECOM ACCESS STANDARDS NEWSLETTER NO. 163

April 2007

CONTENTS
1. New Number range to be opened
RETURN TO MAIN INDEX

This is another very short newsletter on the same subject as Newsletter No. 161, namely the opening of a new number range. This is of interest to PBX suppliers, maintainers and users, who need to configure systems.

While Telecom can give notice of such changes (and will continue to do so) for the Telecom Network, we are not always aware of changes implemented by other carriers. The New Zealand numbering plan is managed by M-co, and the Register can be viewed on their website.

1. New Number range to be opened

Telecom is opening a new short code number range 129x (x=0 to 9) for managed services.

All the short codes have been 3 digit numbers to date, such as 120 for the Fault Service, 123 for Residential Sales and Service, and, 126 for Business Sales and Service.

This communication is to give advance notice to Suppliers, Maintainers and Users of customer premise equipment CPE (e.g. PABX) that programming may be needed to allow the new 4 digit short code, so that correct routing is applied out of the CPE when calls to the new numbers are made.

The existing service numbers 120 through to 128 will remain three digits in length and there is no charge to the callers for using either 3 or 4 digit short codes. P>
